- Class 10 Chemistry (Consolidated Syllabus) :
- Periodic Properties and Variations: Periodic trends (atomic size, metallic character,ionization potential, electron affinity, electronegativity) across periods and groups.
- Chemical Bonding: Electrovalent (ionic) bonding, Covalent bonding, and Coordinate bonding ; structures of (NaCl, H_2O, NH_3, H^3O+)
- Acids, Bases, and Salts: Definition in terms of hydronium/hydroxyl ions, pH scale,properties, indicators, and preparation of salts.
- Analytical Chemistry : Action of Ammonium Hydroxide and SodiumHydroxide on salt solutions (color identification of precipitates).
- Mole Concept and Stoichiometry: Gay-Lussac’s Law, Avogadro’s Law, vapourdensity, molecular formula, and percentage composition calculations.
- Electrolysis: Mechanism, preferential discharge of ions, and applications(electroplating, electro-refining, extraction of Aluminum).
- Metallurgy: Occurrence of metals, common terms (ore, gangue, flux), extraction of Aluminium, Iron, and Zinc
- Study of Compounds : Detailed study of Hydrogen Chloride, Ammonia, Nitric Acid and Sulphuric Acid .
- Organic Chemistry (The Biggest Common Pillar):
o Unique nature of Carbon (catenation, tetravalency).
o Hydrocarbons: Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes.
o Homologous series and IUPAC Nomenclature.
o Functional groups (Alcohols, Aldehydes, Carboxylic acids).
o Commercial compounds: Ethanol and Ethanoic acid; Soaps and Detergents.
